He Began to Teach Them
Without realizing it, Simon had proclaimed the crucial depth that underlies all Christianity. Jesus was not just a buddy or a healer, as, up to now, they had been thinking.
Carrying Our Cross
Carrying our cross daily means accepting that God’s gift to us is often not what we expect. God always answers our prayers but, often times, by giving us what we really need rather than what we think we need.
To deny yourself requires first having a self to deny. It requires having desires for ordinary good things, for life rather than death.
Genuine Service of Others
The service that our faith calls for is genuine service, the actual performance of deeds that benefit those in need.
The letter of James tells us to serve our neighbor. Do you ever respond to such a call? If so, how?
what was begun in us
will be completed in us
